The base was quieter than usual at that hour. Most of the team was still busy between reports, equipment maintenance or resting after a long day, and the hallways had become quiet, almost empty. In one of the common rooms, the dim light fell on the worn sofa where she had sat, still in her uniform and the fatigue of the day marked on her shoulders. He played absentmindedly with his fingers, trying to organize the thoughts that kept spinning in his head. It wasn't fear that kept her uneasy; It was something much harder to ignore.
