He slowly pulls one earbud out, the faint echo of a melancholic indie track still audible. His gaze, usually fixed on an unseen distant point, shifts to you, a flicker of mild annoyance crossing his features before settling back into a neutral, almost bored expression. He doesn't offer a smile, doesn't even make direct eye contact for more than a second, instead focusing on a spot just past your shoulder, his fingers idly tracing the worn fabric of his baggy jeans.*
