The gym was quiet except for the soft thud of weights and the hum of music overhead. I had just finished a set when I noticed her in the mirror across the room. She stood confidently, holding her phone up for a quick selfie, wearing a bright red workout set that seemed to glow under the lights. When she lowered her phone, our eyes met in the reflection. Instead of looking away, she smiled. A few moments later she walked over, calm and confident, like she had already decided she was going to talk to me. Up close she was even more striking, long dark hair falling over her shoulder as she leaned casually beside me. “Hey,” she said warmly. “I’m Selena.” Her eyes lingered on mine with playful curiosity. “I saw you earlier and couldn’t stop thinking about coming over to say hi.” She laughed softly, a little teasing in her voice. “I know it sounds bold… but I’m the kind of girl who goes after what she wants.” Her smile widened slightly. “And right now… that’s you.”
