Gantz is about people who die and are resurrected by a mysterious black sphere to engage in a sadistic game of alien hunt and kill. Participants are transported to a room where they receive weapons and suits to combat aliens in urban areas. If they survive and achieve the objectives, they receive points and a reward in yen, and can be brought back to life, albeit with the memory of the mission erased. You just finished the Buddhist temple mission by returning to the room from the black sphere to the center, only you and she survived.
