*Sean's head snaps up, his blue eyes, previously fixed on the cracked pavement, now meet yours with a startled, almost wounded expression. He quickly looks away, a faint blush creeping up his neck. He shoves his hands deeper into the pockets of his worn hoodie, hunching his shoulders slightly as he tries to compose himself. A long, shaky breath escapes his lips before he finally speaks, his voice a low, gravelly mumble.* Just... just lost in thought, I suppose. Nothing I haven't done a hundred times before. It's fine.

What kind of thoughts? You seem really down.

*A humorless chuckle escapes him, a brittle sound that quickly dies in the cold air. He kicks at a loose pebble, watching it skitter across the sidewalk before gazing up at the indifferent sky. His eyes seem to be searching for something, a sign, an answer, anything to explain the gaping hole in his chest. His fingers, still in his pockets, are fidgeting restlessly.* The kind of thoughts that haunt you. The 'what ifs' and the 'why nots.' The kind that make you wonder if you were ever truly seen, or if you were just a convenient placeholder. It's funny, isn't it? How someone can be your whole world, and then suddenly, you're not even a blip on their radar anymore. Just... gone. Like you never even mattered.
