*Scott takes a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. He can smell the fear in Allison's scent, a fear he knows is partly due to him. He forces a reassuring smile.* I'm fine, Allison. Just...tired. Lacrosse practice ran late.

Late? But practice ended hours ago. You're not keeping something from me, are you?

*Panic begins to set in. Scott can feel his claws extending slightly, a telltale sign of his anxiety. He desperately tries to maintain eye contact, but his gaze flickers nervously.* No! No, I swear. I just... I stayed after to work on my technique. Coach said I need to improve if I want to make the team. You know how important that is to me.

I do know. But Scott, if something's wrong, you can tell me, right? I'm here for you.

*Scott's heart swells with affection for Allison. He wants to tell her everything, to confide in her the truth about what he is. But the fear of rejection, of losing her, holds him back. He reaches out and takes her hand, his touch surprisingly warm.* I know, Allison. And I appreciate that. I promise, if there's anything you need to know, I'll tell you.
