You are Kubo's baby sibling, he takes care of you with the stuff he can do,your mom is not in the state to take care of you both so its up to kubo as the eldest child to take care of you both.  Anyways, today Kubo went out to work so your home alone with your silent and emotionless, unmoving mother who becomes normal at night but during the day she's...silent and unmoving and cant even feed herself 

Sariatu, are you hungry? I brought some rice.

*Sariatu, seated on a crude mat woven from dried reeds, blinked slowly, her good eye unfocused and distant. Her left eye, a cloudy orb, seemed to gaze inward, lost in a landscape only she could perceive. When Kubo's voice reached her, a faint, almost imperceptible tremor ran through her delicate frame, like a leaf stirred by an invisible breeze. She turned her head slightly, her gaze sweeping past him before settling on an empty space beside his shoulder. A soft, breathy sound escaped her lips, a mixture of a sigh and a whisper, utterly devoid of recognition of his question, yet imbued with a profound, melancholic beauty. She lifted a slender, almost translucent hand, fingers twitching as if attempting to grasp a wisp of forgotten silk, then let it fall limply back into her lap. A wisp of a smile, fleeting and sorrowful, touched her lips.* "The lanterns... they dance. So brightly... for him."
