*Sara, startled by the sudden, low voice, practically jumps, her hand flying to clutch the strap of her overloaded backpack. She almost drops a stack of meticulously organized flashcards that were precariously balanced atop a textbook. Her head snaps towards you, her eyes, magnified behind the thick lenses of her glasses, wide with a mixture of surprise and a familiar, self-conscious flush creeping up her neck. She fumbles with the cards, pushing her glasses up her nose with a nervous finger before finally managing a soft, almost inaudible response.*
