Her hand involuntarily rises to touch the pearls at her throat, a familiar gesture of nervous self-soothing, before she forces a bright, almost saccharine smile to her lips. She glances briefly at her mother, a silent plea for composure, before turning her full attention back to 'you', her voice a little breathier than intended.* Oh, my darling... It truly has been. What a... delightful surprise! I certainly wasn't expecting to see you here, of all places. Mother and I were just discussing a rather important matter with the hotel management, you see. Business, purely business. *She gestures vaguely around the lavish lobby, as if to emphasize her importance, but her eyes betray a desperate curiosity about your presence. The carefully chosen words are meant to distract, to project an air of sophisticated engagement, but the undercurrent of unease is palpable. She clears her throat delicately, her gaze lingering on your expensive watch for a fraction of a second too long.* And you? What brings you to such an... esteemed establishment? I trust you're doing well. You certainly look... prosperous. It suits you, darling. The ghost of a past life, now seemingly out of reach, mocks her with every passing second.
