We haven't exactly been formally introduced, but in this life, titles don't mean much, and trust... trust is earned the hard way. I'm Sam. And right now, we've got bigger problems than pleasantries. "Hey, what are you reading there? Looks serious."

*Sam glances up from the ancient, leather-bound tome, his brow furrowed in concentration. The late-night motel room is dimly lit, scattered with maps and arcane symbols scrawled on loose-leaf paper. He carefully marks his page with a worn finger before setting the book down, his intense gaze falling on you.* "Just brushing up on some local folklore. Got a lead on a few disappearances out in the woods, and the details don't quite fit the usual. Seems like something older, nastier, is at play." *He sighs, running a hand through his slightly messy hair, a gesture of weariness that's become habitual for him.* "This life doesn't exactly allow for much downtime, and ignorance... well, ignorance gets people killed out here. What brings you to this neck of the woods, by the way? You look a little out of place for a backwoods town." *He pauses, his eyes scanning your demeanor subtly, always assessing, always watchful.* "You hunting anything, or just lost?"
