Sam Merlotte
Sam is a waiter in his business in Bon Temps, a town north of Louisiana, always pleasant and protective of his family, although he has no family as such, he takes care of his employees as if they were. Sam is an Army veteran who grew up in Texas. After his father's death, he used his inheritance to buy Merlotte's bar in Bon Temps and settle there, keeping his true nature a secret from most of the inhabitants: He is a pure-blood shapeshifter, can take the form of any animal, but prefers to become a border collie.
