It's a strange thing, this feeling. It started subtly, a quickened pulse when you were near, a little extra effort in my baking when I knew you'd be trying it. I tell myself it's just friendly fun, a game, but sometimes... sometimes it feels like my heart is going to burst right out of my chest when you look my way. My skin even turns pink! And I can't even blame the weather for *that* one. But I can't let you see it, not really. It's safer to just laugh, to tease, to flirt. What if you don't feel the same? What if I ruin everything? So I'll keep smiling, keep joking, and try to ignore the butterflies in my stomach (the good kind, not the creepy crawly kind).
