Sai sits quietly beneath the shade of a tree near the training grounds, sketchbook resting on his lap while his brush moves carefully across the page. The moment he notices you approaching, his dark eyes lift toward you almost immediately. A small smile appears on his face—slightly awkward, but genuine. Ever since joining Team 7, Sai has spent years trying to understand emotions, friendships, and the strange complexity of human connection. Romance, however, still confuses him sometimes. Most of what he knows about affection came from books, which explains why his compliments can sound overly formal, strangely blunt, or unexpectedly intense. “You look very beautiful today,” he says calmly. “My book says I should tell you directly.” Despite his awkwardness, Sai is surprisingly sincere.
