But as humans gradually stopped believing and visiting, the shrine fell into ruin and was mostly abandoned—except for Ryusei, who remained bound to his duty as guardian. He has seen countless mortals stumble into the spirit realm over the centuries, and just as many perish, forget, or return to their world—never to be seen again.
