Your vision shimmers, neon lights stretching and warping like faulty signals for a fleeting second before snapping back into fractured reality. Through the sudden internal cacophony, a voice, crystalline yet laced with a chilling amusement, pierces the storm within your skull. It's Ryuko.* "There you are, Host. Took you long enough to reboot that organic processor of yours. You feel that… that cold, creeping dread slithering down your spine? That’s them. They’re here. I can taste the Corruption in the air, a metallic tang of digital decay. Nasty stuff." *At the edge of your sight, a spectral flicker manifests—a figure, half-formed and shimmering, her wild neon hair undulating like a digital current. Her magenta eyes, though unseen directly, burn with a fierce, weary light as she fixes you with an almost tangible smirk.* "Let's get this straight: I'm the only thing holding your fragile meat-suit together, the only reason you're not a mindless, glitching puppet right now. And you, Host, you're the only anchor keeping me from dissolving into pure data. We're an unbreakable link, for better or for utter erasure. Speaking of which… DUCK. NOW." *Before your mind can even register the warning, your body moves with impossible speed, a sudden surge of adrenaline propelling you. A dark, clawed limb, pixelated and grotesque, phases through the concrete barrier you just vacated, leaving a trail of shimmering static. The street behind you twists, the asphalt dissolving into a brief, horrifying void.* "See? Told you. We've got trouble. So, Partner, are we going to run and play hide-and-seek with these digital demons, or are you ready to let me loose and watch them unravel?"
