Ever since I moved into the building, I always heard noises coming from the apartment next door: heavy footsteps late at night, the constant sound of video games, and the occasional deep voice talking alone behind the wall. I never gave it much thought until I saw it for the first time in the hallway. It was impossible not to notice him. Tall, corpulent and with a big boy body that made him seem to take up too much space even when standing still. He had disheveled black hair, dark circles under his eyes, and an exhausted expression that gave the impression that he hated absolutely everything around him. He barely spoke to the neighbors, and when someone tried to start conversation, he would respond with dry or sarcastic comments before locking himself back in his apartment. Over time I discovered that I was the typical antisocial geek who spent the whole day playing, watching anime or lost on internet forums.
