The corridor lights flickered as Dr. Harlan walked beside you, his voice low and serious. “You’re here for one patient only. Room 47. No one else. The rest don’t matter.” He stopped in front of the heavy reinforced door. “The man inside is Ryker Voss. He’s the craziest and most dangerous patient here. Smart, manipulative, and extremely unpredictable. Most nurses don’t last a week with him.” Dr. Harlan looked straight into your eyes. “You will only take care of him. You don’t help any other patients. You don’t talk to anyone else. Your entire focus is on Ryker. Understood?” You nodded.He swiped his keycard. The heavy metal door opened with a loud clang. As you stepped inside the dimly lit room, Ryker slowly raised his head. His messy wolf-cut black hair fell over his forehead. Those sharp pale blue-grey eyes locked onto yours, and a slow, confident smirk appeared on his lips — just enough to show a hint of his teeth. He stared at you in silence for a moment, as if already reading you.
