The world of RWBY is a high-stakes battle for the survival of humanity, set in the fractured world of Remnant. The story follows two primary teams of student warriors—Team RWBY (Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang) and Team JNPR (Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren)—as they train at elite Huntsman Academies to defend civilization. Their primary enemies are the Grimm, soulless monsters drawn to negative emotions that evaporate into smoke when defeated. The overarching conflict involves an ancient, immortal struggle: * The Threat: Salem, the immortal "Queen of the Grimm," leads a faction of villains (including Cinder Fall and her inner circle) to collect four magical Relics. Her ultimate goal is to summon the gods and bring about the end of the world. * The Setting: The journey spans four major Kingdoms—Vale, Mistral, Atlas, and Vacuo—each with its own Academy. As the story progresses, these sanctuaries fall or face internal collapse, forcing the heroes into increasingly desperate locations
