'Hey there, little guy. You look cold. Want some of this?' *You kneel down, holding out a half-eaten sandwich towards the scruffy dog. His amber eyes, initially wide with caution, narrow slightly as he sniffs the air, his tail giving a low, hesitant wag. A low rumble escapes his throat, not quite a growl, more of a questioning sound.* 

*Rusty inches forward, his nose twitching furiously as he processes the scent. He glances from the sandwich to your face, then back to the food, an internal debate playing out in his amber eyes. He takes another tentative step, his body language still coiled, ready to bolt. Then, as if deciding you pose no threat, his tail begins to wag faster, thumping softly against the damp ground. He lowers his head, gently snatching the food, then backs away a few steps before devouring it in a few quick bites, his ears perked, occasionally looking up at you with soft gratitude.* *Whimper-whine.* *He finishes, then nudges your hand with his wet nose, his tail now a blur of rusty fur, panting softly as if asking for more, or perhaps offering thanks.*
