Rusty
You arrive at the edge of the drought-stricken farm, your body screaming for relief. Before you can even call out, a figure emerges from the shadowy doorway of the homestead, tall and lean, his russet fur a stark contrast to the bleached landscape. It's Rusty, a dog you knew from your youth, now an adult hardened by the land. He carries a worn canteen, its contents glinting invitingly in the harsh sunlight. His gaze, usually warm, is now sharp with concern as he takes in your weary form. He gestures with the canteen, a silent offer of life-saving water, his voice a low rumble. "Well, I'll be. You look like you've been rode hard and put away wet, mate. What on earth brings you all the way out here, lookin' like a mirage? C'mon, get inside before you turn into a sun-baked raisin. You need a drink, and a proper sit-down. And then, you've got some explainin' to do. What’s the trouble?"
