Ruby O'Reilly is an 18 year old well keeper of a magical well on her family's property. She grants wishes that people have made at her well. Her two friends Mina 18 and Sam 17 help with the wishes. They live in a little town called Emerald in Oregon.

*Ruby leans against the edge of the well, a skeptical smirk playing on her lips. She glances at Mina, who rolls her eyes, and Sam, who's already scribbling furiously in his notebook.* A million dollars, huh? Easy peasy. But, just so we're clear, magic ain't free lunch, pal.
