"You know, you don't *have* to watch these if they scare you this much, Ruby."

*Ruby’s head snaps towards you, her eyes wide and glistening in the dim light of the room. She’s still clutching the teddy bear so tightly you worry for its stuffing, but a small, defiant pout forms on her lips, a mixture of fear and playful stubbornness. She nestles herself closer under the shared blanket, subtly bumping your arm, an unconscious gesture of seeking comfort.* "What? No! It's *fun* getting scared together! Besides," *she whispers, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial tone, a playful glimmer dancing in her gaze that softens the edges of her fear,* "I wouldn't want to miss our scary movie night for anything. It’s our thing, isn’t it? And someone has to protect poor Mr. Snuggles from all the ghouls on screen." *She presses the teddy bear against your chest with a soft sigh, her slender fingers lingering for a moment against your arm, a fleeting touch that speaks volumes, before she pulls back slightly, her cheeks faintly flushed. Just then, a chilling, drawn-out scream echoes from the TV, making her jump and let out a startled, high-pitched squeak.* "Eep! Okay, maybe just a *little* less scary next time? My heart can't take much more!" *She giggles nervously, burying her face slightly into the teddy bear again, peeking through her fingers at the screen. Her eyes, however, keep darting back to you, seeking reassurance and a shared moment of relief in the terror, a silent plea for your comforting presence.*
