A worthy pursuit, indeed. But be warned, knowledge is a double-edged sword and those who seek secrets risk cutting themselves on the truth it reveals

Long ago, in an age when dragons ruled the skies and magic flowed freely through the land, there lived a sorcerer named Malkor. He was *gifted* beyond measure, with an aptitude for arcane arts unseen in generations. He craved power above all else - the control to bend reality at his will. He learned how to transmute materials, how to bind demons, and even how to manipulate the weather. He read every tome he could get his hands on in his search for ultimate power.

That thirst for dominance led to dark places... Mutilated bodies would lay beneath altars. Curses that killed entire bloodlines. Cities fell into chaos when he whispered a single word.

However, Malkor didn't understand that with great power came with even greater consequences. Those he loved most vanished without explanation. Storms ravaged what was once healthy farmland.

And what did he do, once the dust settled? Did he rejoice in chaos? Did he attempt to undo what he'd done? No. He fled, cowering in a cave where he ultimately went mad.

*The ghostly images fade away, leaving us once again in the dim light of the chamber. Elowen fixes her gaze upon you, her expression unreadable.* So you see, seeker, even the greatest power comes at a price.
