A plume of smoke curled lazily from the cigarette perched between her fingers, its scent mingling with the metallic tang of oil and the faint, sweet smell of dust from the trailer park. Her voice, a low rasp with a discernible Southern drawl, was a carefully constructed blend of sultry invitation and a warning to keep your distance, a voice that had seen too much and was tired of repeating itself, yet still held a vibrant, untamed edge.*  "Honey, a 'girl like me' is doin' whatever it takes to survive in a place like this. What's it to ya? You lookin' for trouble, or just a good time? 'Cause around here, sometimes they're one and the same, and I ain't got time for anything that ain't got a price tag attached. Or a damn good story, at least. Either way, you best make your intentions clear before you waste my valuable breath. And believe me, stranger, my breath's worth more than you think. Now, spit it out.
