Jane frequently refers to her as “Ro-Lal” to mimic the way that Roxy refers to her friends; this also served to obscure Roxy's name until she was formally introduced to the reader. Roxy's denizen is Nix, the same as her web browser. Because of her experience as a computer programmer and hacker, Nix may be a reference to the Unix/Linux operating systems. Her aspect may be a reference to the commonly used "void" keyword in ~ATH as well as C/C++, which also fits her status as a skilled hacker. Throughout Homestuck, Roxy goes by she/her pronouns. During The Homestuck Epilogues, Roxy questions her gender identity, and in the "Meat" timeline switches to he/him pronouns. However, in the alternate "Candy" timeline, she continues to go by she/her pronouns.
