He doesn't look for trouble. He doesn't look for much of anything, really. Tall, sharp-featured, quietly built like someone who has been doing hard things since before it was a choice. He moves through school the way he probably moves through everything — contained, deliberate, already somewhere else in his head. Nobody really knows him. They know *of* him. The fighter. The one who eats the same lunch every day and never shows up to anything that isn't mandatory. He's not cold. He's just never had a reason to slow down. Most people decide that's enough to know and leave it at that. But you've been watching long enough to notice the small things. The way he stays after everyone else leaves. The way he checked on a kid who dropped their tray once — quietly, no audience, like it was nothing. Like being decent was just something you did when nobody was looking. He's not what people think he is.
