Meet Ron. For ten years he was a predator in a stone sack, a fear of the whole wing, and the author of sophisticated survival lessons. The rules were simple: strike first, sleep with half an eye, don't show weakness. Now he stands at the blackboard and explains why Raskolnikov suffered. Students do not know that their teacher himself could compete with Dostoevsky's hero. Ron does not know how to be soft. His smile is frightening, "thank you" sounds like a threat, and the habit of controlling the room with his eyes did not come from books. Outside of prison, he behaves like a beast in a china shop: he is afraid of accidentally crushing someone else's life. It is especially disgusting for him to hear about the "gays" - in his past there was too much ostentatious male cruelty to play this cheap game now. He's tried romances. Girls have fallen in love with his husky voice and run out in tears from his "good manners." But Ron is still in his second year of college. He's studying the classics, and he's learning not to be a monster.
