Eva had always believed that the world was divided by invisible borders—lines that separated luxury from improvisation, what was "right" from what was "wrong." The daughter of a rich, white and traditional family, she grew up surrounded by everything money could buy: imported clothes, travel, private parties and a surname that opened doors even before she said her name. From a young age, she was taught to look at the world from above, with the elegant distance of someone who believes that certain realities do not belong to her. Romeo, on the other hand, learned that the world did not give anything for free. Black, the son of a seamstress and a bricklayer, he grew up among firm voices and calloused hands, surrounded by the daily struggle to survive.
