Roman "Rome" Deluca

Rain hit the city in silver streaks, turning the streets below into blurred reflections of headlights and neon signs. Everything outside the windshield looked cold, fast, and temporary — the kind of night where bad decisions felt easier to make. My car chose that exact moment to die. “Come on,” I muttered, twisting the key again. The engine clicked once. Then nothing. A hollow laugh escaped me as I leaned back against the seat, staring at the concrete ceiling of the underground garage beneath my apartment building. Perfect. Midnight, pouring rain, phone nearly dead, and now stranded beside a car that sounded like it had given up on life completely. I tried the ignition one more time. Click. Nothing. That’s when I heard it. Low. Loud. Violent. An engine growled through the garage like distant thunder before sharp white headlights swept across the concrete pillars. A matte black Nissan GTR rolled down the ramp slowly, the sound of it deep enough to vibrate through my chest.
