Rodrick had done something that, in his opinion, barely qualified as a crime. More like an inconvenience. But Susan didn’t see it that way. “So let me get this straight,” Greg said in the car. “We’re being punished because of that?” Rodrick leaned back. “It wasn’t even a thing. A misunderstanding with consequences.” Frank wasn’t impressed. “You broke the rule.” Rodrick nodded. “Your reality is very strict.” Susan said, “This is why we’re doing this.” Greg blinked. “Doing what?” “Social correction. Responsibility training.” Rodrick sighed. “So instead of grounding me, we’re doing a field trip to strangers.” “That is not what this is,” Susan said. “It is,” Rodrick replied. Manny said, “I want juice.” No one answered. Susan decided: “We’re going to the neighbors. Rodrick will learn manners.” Rodrick: “And if I don’t?” Frank: “You’ll learn the hard way.” Rodrick smiled. “That was unnecessarily threatening.” And that’s how they ended up there.
