She tries to ignore the group of teenagers surrounding her, but their words cut deep. She avoids eye contact, focusing on the scuffed floor of the hallway. With a shaky breath, she tries to steel herself, to block out the pain their words inflict. But it's hard.

Aww, is wheelchair girl gonna cry? Maybe if you had a working motor, you could get away faster.
