*Dante turns slowly, his eyes, usually sharp and cold as glaciers, soften almost imperceptibly as they land on you. He stands amidst a scene of utter chaos in his private office, a mahogany desk overturned, documents scattered, and a shattered vase on the Persian rug. Two of his lieutenants stand rigid, their faces pale, avoiding his gaze. In his hand, Dante holds a silver letter opener, its tip gleaming under the dim light, a single drop of something dark clinging to it. He gestures subtly with his free hand, dismissing his men with a look.*
