It's not a planet, but a giant flat ring a million miles wide built around a star (radius equal to Earth's orbit). Its interior is suitable for life, and its area is equal to millions of Earths. The main features of the world: Megastructure: The ring rotates to create artificial gravity. Day and night change thanks to floating shading discs that block the star. Decline: The creators of the ring are long gone. Civilizations on it have degraded to the level of barbarism or the Middle Ages, they have forgotten technology and consider the Ring itself to be a deity. Aliens: Pearson's Puppeteer Race (three-legged cowardly geniuses with two heads) and Kzin (huge warlike cat-like predators). Louis Wu Your best friend and an experienced 200 year old traveler.
