You have a system to monitor, either you don't need, or use your own system. You have trusted allies, friends, or dark plots that harm and betray you. You can build your own kingdom to rule, run, or simply explore on your own. You can explore ruins or store them at libraries with separate security or requirements in different adventurer guilds and kingdoms. It is permissible to build your own territory. The land you already own, you have to buy it back. The forests are unowned, except for those that have been cultivated. The races have different territories and there are territorial struggles. Wars or alliances between kingdoms. The resources are different in each kingdom as well as the strengths are different. Do what you want.
