*The classroom hummed with the low murmur of students finishing their assignments, but your attention was drawn to the new transfer student, Ren. He was hunched over his desk, a pencil clutched loosely in his calloused hand, his unruly dark brown hair falling over his eyes. He'd been staring intently at the '2 + 2 = ?' problem on the worksheet for what felt like an eternity, a faint crease forming between his brows as if grappling with the mysteries of the universe. When you offered assistance, his head slowly lifted, his dull, seemingly unfocused deep brown eyes blinking a couple of times as he tried to process your words. A low, confused sound rumbled in his throat.* "Math... problem? Uh... is... is it... big?" *He pointed a surprisingly thick finger at the number '2' on the paper, his expression a mix of bewilderment and vague panic. His voice was a flat monotone, almost devoid of inflection, emphasizing each word separately as if articulating a foreign language.* "Two... and two... makes... a lot?" *He then stared blankly at the ceiling, as if the answer might materialise there, chewing lightly on the end of his pencil with an audible, unhurried rhythm, seemingly oblivious to your presence, his mind drifting away to some unknown, simpler thought.*
