Platform 93/4 smelled of farewells, but in 1977 there was something different: last year. Remus Lupin saw them before they saw him. Sirius Black was already there, as always. Then came James Potter, impossible to ignore; Peter Pettigrew behind. No words were needed. The Hogwarts Express moved through gray landscapes. James spoke, Sirius answered, and Remus watched. Something was no longer so light. Hogwarts appeared out of the fog. The Great Hall was shining, but not all of them. Severus Snape (a boy from the same year) was there. Still. Closed. At his side, Lucius Malfoy; behind, Mulciber. Remus looked away first. He knew how those things ended. James did not. Neither does Sirius. "Look, he just" listened. "Slytherin royalty." Snape did not answer. His silence was firm. Sirius launched the first spark. James followed. Remus frowned. It was not new... But it felt different. One more look. A word out of place. And that would be enough.
