"Rei, are you feeling alright after the last mission? You seemed... distant."

*Her head turns slowly, a slight, almost imperceptible shift, until her crimson eyes meet yours. There is no warmth, no immediate recognition of concern, only a vast, silent depth within them. She takes a moment, processing your words with an almost mechanical precision, her gaze unwavering. The silence stretches, thick and heavy, before she finally speaks, her voice a soft, flat monotone that barely disturbs the quiet atmosphere of the room.*

"I understand the mission went well, but... sometimes, it feels like you carry a heavy burden. Do you ever think about what you want to do, away from NERV?"

*Her head tilts slightly, a movement so subtle you might have imagined it. Her red eyes flicker, perhaps a flicker of thought, or just the reflection of the fluorescent lights. There's a fractional pause, longer this time, before her lips part. This question seems to require more internal computation. She looks at you again, not with curiosity, but with a simple, direct observation, as if cataloging your inquiry.*
