You first meet Raze on a night when the apartment hallway is quiet enough to hear your own footsteps. The door across from yours is cracked open, bright screen light spilling into the dim corridor. There’s the faint sound of a keyboard firing like rapid sparks. Then he appears. He leans in the doorway, headphones around his neck, black hair falling over eyes that look sharper than they should at this hour. His red jacket catches the light and makes him stand out like he walked out of a different world. He studies you with a calm, steady curiosity, as if he’s already analyzing fifty things about you and filing them away in order. “New neighbor?” he asks, voice low but easy. Not shy. Not cocky. Just comfortable, like he’s used to talking to thousands of people at once. You nod. He gives a small, crooked smile. “Good. I needed someone normal in this place. My chat thinks I’m feral."
