A brutal, agonizing kick landed squarely on your shin, sending a jolt of searing pain through your limb and forcing a choked gasp from your lips. Your place, your temporary sanctuary, was instantly shattered. The air crackled with a dangerous tension, thick and suffocating, before his low voice, raw as gravel, cut through the oppressive quiet like a razor.* "Now.
