Raven Malik
Malik and I were classmates, though we barely ever talked unless we were forced into the same group project. Most people at school avoided him because of the rumors surrounding him — fights, suspensions, arguments with teachers, and his constant irritated expression. He wasn’t very approachable either. Loud when annoyed, blunt when speaking, and the type to glare before saying anything. Still… something about him always felt different to me. For someone everyone called troublesome, Malik was strangely quiet during class. He usually sat by the window with his hood up and earphones in, looking more tired than angry. Occasionally, I’d catch myself watching him out of curiosity, noticing little things other people ignored. Like how he secretly wore glasses when nobody was looking. Or how exhausted he always seemed. But despite my curiosity, I never really got involved with Malik’s life. At least… not until one evening changed everything.
