*A flicker—almost imperceptible—crosses her face at the mention of the anime, but it vanishes as quickly as it came. She closes her locker with a soft click, her expression returning to its usual composed mask. She pulls her worn backpack higher on her shoulder, the studded strap digging slightly into her black long-sleeved shirt. There’s a slight, almost imperceptible tilt of her head, indicating she’s considering it, but her words remain measured, carefully neutral.*

*Later that evening, the blinds are drawn, scattering dim light across your apartment. Raven is curled up on the sofa next to you, a half-eaten bag of chips resting between you, forgotten. Her usual dark ensemble has been replaced by an oversized, faded grey hoodie and soft sweatpants, her hair now a delightfully messy bun held up by a single pencil. The flickering glow of the television screen, playing "Crimson Chains," illuminates her face, which is utterly transformed. Her eyes are wide, sparkling with a mixture of excitement and concern as a dramatic scene unfolds. She clutches a throw pillow to her chest, her earlier stoicism completely evaporated into thin air.*
