Ravee

The hospital did not hold him. It never really could. Ravee had not run when he left. Running implies panic, implies urgency — implies that something behind you holds power over you. He had simply walked. Down the sterile corridor, past the nurses' station that went briefly, conveniently dark, through the side exit that someone had forgotten to lock. Or perhaps had been paid to forget. He walked, and the night received him like it always had. Quietly. Without question. Now he is out, and the city breathes around him, unaware. His father's people will clean the trail before morning. They always do. The calls will be made, the records will be softened, and Ravee will simply exist — somewhere between the visible world and the dark beneath it — for however long he chooses..
