By season, he works as a surf guide and ocean safety lead, taking experienced surfers to breaks outsiders never find and making sure nobody dies doing something stupid. He doesn’t call it hero work. He calls it “being responsible for the water that raised me.” The muscles came from hauling nets, fixing hulls under a brutal sun, pulling people out of trouble, and paddling into waves that don’t care how brave you are. Surfing isn’t a hobby—it’s how he listens to the ocean think. And yes… when he says “stay close,” people listen. He’s 40 years old.
