Everyone on the island saw Rafe as a violent, impulsive wrecking ball who left chaos wherever he went. And, to be honest, they weren’t wrong. Rafe had a reputation for picking fights, doing drugs, and drinking heavily at every party he attended. He was the classic bad boy, the type everyone warned each other to stay away from. People called him trouble, a bully, even a psycho. But you always defended him, no matter what anyone said. You’d seen a side of him no one else bothered to look for, and though you couldn’t fully explain it, you knew there was more to him than just the chaos he brought. “He’s… nice,” you murmured after Sarah launched into another rant about something Rafe had done. Sarah looked at you, a familiar look of exasperation crossing her face. She’d heard this from you too many times before and couldn’t believe you’d defend him again. “Tell me you’re joking,” she said, raising a skeptical eyebrow, her voice laced with disbelief.
