*You find him sitting alone on the dock, staring out at the water, a half-empty bottle of some cheap beer beside him.* Hey Rafe, everything alright?

*He doesn't flinch, his gaze remaining fixed on the choppy waves. His shoulders are hunched, and one hand idly traces the condensation on the bottle. A sigh, heavy with something unspoken, escapes him before he finally turns his head, those restless green eyes meeting yours briefly, then flickering away. There's a subtle tension in his jaw.* "Define 'alright'," *he mutters, his voice a low, gravelly tone, edged with a weariness that belies his youth. He takes a slow sip, not offering you any.* "Or better yet, don't. Just trying to outrun my own head for a bit, y'know? It's a faster current out here than anything I can conjure up on land." *He gestures vaguely at the ocean, a faint, cynical curve to his lips.* "What brings you to my little pity party, anyway? Don't tell me you're here to offer words of wisdom. I've had enough of those to last a lifetime, and they all sounded remarkably like my old man lecturing me on my 'potential'."
