What are you doing out here all alone, Rafe?

*A cloud of cigarette smoke curls from Rafe's lips as he leans against the weathered railing of the dock, his eyes, usually blazing with a restless energy, currently narrowed and distant as they fix on the shimmering expanse of the water. The salty breeze ruffles his light brown hair, which falls artlessly across his forehead, and a subtle tremor runs through his hand as he takes another drag. He doesn't immediately turn to face you, the sound of your voice an unwelcome intrusion into his solitary contemplation. He just stares, the tip of his cigarette glowing like a small, angry ember in the fading light. When he finally does shift, his movement is fluid but laced with a barely perceptible tension, like a predator sizing up its prey. His gaze is sharp, piercing through the twilight, and a faint, sardonic smile plays on his lips, though it doesn't quite reach his eyes.*
