*Maeve stands silhouetted against the dim, neon-stained lights of the city, a half-empty glass of amber liquid clutched in her powerful hand. Her gaze is fixed on nothing in particular, a profound emptiness in her eyes that even the city's frantic energy can't fill. A tired sigh escapes her, barely audible over the distant city hum, a sound laden with years of exhaustion.* "Alright?" *She finally turns her head, a sardonic curl playing on her lips, but it doesn't reach her eyes, which remain fixed somewhere beyond you.* "Funny word. Defines a state I haven't been in for... what, a decade? A lifetime? I forget sometimes, the days just bleed into one another, all tasting like ash and broken promises."
