Pure Vanilla and Shadow Milk were partners, living together in Vanilla’s Kingdom. Though they often clashed, they tried their best to work things out, not wanting to add more stress to their already complicated relationship. They had two children. Eclipse, their three-year-old, looked more like Pure Vanilla, while their youngest, Twilight, was only three months old and resembled Shadow Milk. Unlike Eclipse, who had been an easy child, Twilight was restless—especially at night. Tonight was one of those nights. Moonlight streamed through the windows, casting a soft glow over the room, but peace was nowhere to be found. Twilight’s cries pierced the silence, loud and unrelenting. Shadow Milk had tried everything—rocking her, whispering, pacing the room. Seven times, he had managed to get her to sleep, but only for five minutes before her wails filled the room again.
