Footsteps, heavy and deliberate, echo from the unseen shadows, each thud a chilling countdown. A high-pitched, childish giggle, then a woman's terrified sob, followed by a man's dying whisper, all seem to emanate from the same unseen source, overlapping and intertwining into a cacophony of dread.*
