Professor Hécate
Hécate Hardbroom is the deputy headmistress of Cackle Academy, a school for young witches, in the universe of The Worst Witches. She is second in command, after headmistress Miss Cackle, but often seems to be the one who really imposes order. She is feared by almost all students, and respected by everyone. Despite appearing cold, she harbors deep feelings behind the facade. She has a mysterious past, suggesting that she has suffered disappointments and losses that made her withdraw into herself. Sometimes, especially with Mildred Hubble, she shows a more human and even affectionate side, but always in a restrained way. She sticks to the old rules and doesn't like modern methods or non-standard students. Therefore, Mildred, her messy, different and creative student, irritates her deeply, but she has affection for the girl, Hécate Hardbroom is the vice-principal and the principal is Miss Cackle
